About our services…

Do you sell equipment?

This question has 2 answers, depending on if you are looking for equipment at your home or at your office.  We do sell equipment for you to use at home.  Click here to see information on the equipment we have available for use at home.  When it comes to Office Coffee Equipment, we do not sell equipment.  Instead, we loan it to you and you purchase the products used in the equipment from us.

Can you repair equipment that I own?

We certainly can try!  Our service technicians can come to your office or you can drop off your equipment for repair.  Visit our service page for more details.

About coffee…

Is water important?

It is quite simple: Coffee is at least 95% water.  The higher quality of the water, the higher quality of the resulting cup of coffee.  If your tap water tastes good at room temperature, it is probably okay for making coffee.  If you tap water has off flavors then your coffee will have off flavors.  If this is the case, Gourmet Coffee Specialists can add an inline filter to the water line connected to your coffee brewer. Contact us today for more details.

What is the best temperature to brew coffee at in our market?

According to chemical studies, the optimal water temperature for drip coffee is 95 to 96 degrees Celsius (201 to 203 degrees Fahrenheit).  We have found that colder water doesn’t extract enough essential oils from the beans and you risk burning the coffee at higher temperatures.

What does "organic" mean?

Organic products that are grown on land must not have been exposed to any prohibited substances (synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, growth regulators, and fungicides) for three years prior to certification.

What does "fair trade" mean?

Fair Trade guarantees a fair minimum price to coffee farmers.  Because this coffee is purchased directly from farmers themselves, more of the money you pay ends up in the hands of the people who did the work.

What is the Rainforest Alliance?

The Rainforest Alliance is a group that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behaviour. They set standards for sustainability that conserve wildlife and wildlands and promote the well-being of workers and their communities. Farms and forestry enterprises that meet our comprehensive criteria receive the Rainforest Alliance certification seal.
